My problem with Rococo Chocolates is that I spend far too much time trying to work out how they make them and not enough time savouring them. Take these Praline Quail’s Eggs for example. I was looking at them with awe because they’re so damn realistic and when I tried the one I just couldn’t stop popping them, somewhat like a pain-killer addict sat in front of a family-sized pack of Tamazapan!
Rococo make some hugely imaginative novelty chocolates such as the Jersey New Potatoes, the Traffic Jam and their wonderful hand-painted Easter eggs and I simply just can’t get enough of their chocolate art.
And these are perhaps my favourite of the selection so far. They look fantastic with their speckled shells and shiny gloss and I would actually tell you how many you’d get in a bag, but I’ve lost count of how many I’ve eaten now, so I’ll have to guess at around 18.
The texture is pretty dam...

It’s cold and wet in Adelaide. After an extended warm autumn that seemed to last until well through May, at last winter has arrived. In my house, winter means fires and soups and stews and pudding. Extra food to keep our bodies going in the cold, and extra comfort for the dreary days.
My girls love chocolate self-saucing pudding. So do I, because it’s very, very easy to make, and the ingredients can be assembled a little ahead of time, then quickly mixed together and the pudding put into the oven just before I start doing the last minute prep for the meal and getting the girls to set the table. 45 minutes later, the pudding is cooked and ready to eat, usually a few minutes after we have finished eating and clearing the first course.
First, assemble two sets of ingredients. In one bowl, mix together 2/3 cup of brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. It’s a good idea to sift the cocoa powder. to get any lumps out of it. This mix of brown ...

This recipe came out of an old Betty Crocker Cookbook. You make the cake in a square cake pan and it had chocolate chips. But that is all I remember. I would love to try this cake again and serve it to my kids afterschool one day like my mother did.

I often speak with people who wonder if God loves them.
"How can God love me? I've done too much! I've sinned too many times!" they cry out.
Here's what I know. God loves me. God loves you.
He really does.
Let me tell you how much by sharing a story with you.
Author and speaker Brennan Manning tells about how he got the name "Brennan."
While growing up, his best friend was Ray. The two of them did everything together: bought a car together as teenagers, double-dated together, went to school together and so forth. Read more ...

Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies

Lately, I’ve been in a bit of a cooking funk. I rushed home from work last Thursday, brimming with excitement to finally use the hazelnuts that Oh! Nuts sent me in some banana chocolate hazelnut muffins. Sadly, those didn’t turn out they way I’d hoped and were promptly infested by ants because I left them too loosely covered on the counter top. It’s a sad moment indeed when you have to throw out tons of fancy dark chocolate and hazelnuts. I almost cried. But instead, I pulled myself together and made cookies. Because nothing makes you feel better than warm cookies straight from the oven.
That is, until you realize that you left an entire stick of butter out of your recipe. Sigh. They were still delicious. I mean, how bad can chocolate and hazelnuts be? But th...
